Italian Serie A champions Napoli are reportedly close to securing the signing of Ghanaian defender Kevin Danso from French Ligue 1 side RC Lens.
Napoli is in the market for a strong and high-quality defender to fill the void left by South Korean international Kim Min-Jae, who joined Bayern Munich this summer.
According to Footmercato, Napoli has already contacted the Austrian international of Ghanaian descent and reached an agreement on personal terms with the player. However, the finalization of the move is still pending, as RC Lens has turned down Napoli’s initial offer of 22 million Euros.
The French club is demanding a fee of at least 30 million Euros for the highly sought-after defender.
Napoli sees Kevin Danso as the ideal center-back with the right credentials to replace Kim Min-Jae ahead of the new season. Danso had an impressive season with RC Lens, making 34 appearances, scoring one goal, and providing two assists as his team finished second in the French Ligue 1 table.
If the deal goes through, Danso’s departure will be a significant blow to RC Lens, especially as they prepare to feature in the upcoming Champions League campaign.
