NAPO advises NUGS to lead with integrity and conscience

New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) vice presidential candidate, Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, has emphasised the crucial impact that students have on the future of Ghana.

Speaking at the 58th National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) Annual Residential Congress with the theme “Depoliticising Education and Upholding Integrity:

The Role of Students and Stakeholders for National Development,” Dr. Mathew Opoku Prempeh, also known as NAPO, emphasised that NUGS leadership should prioritise serving members over personal or partisan interests.

“NUGS should not be used for personal gain or advancing personal or partisan goals,” he stated.

As a former president of the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) at KNUST, he commended the organisation’s longstanding engagement in national matters.

He urged students to offer thoughtful critiques of government policies while backing initiatives that bring about positive change.

The former Minister of Education also emphasised the importance of student involvement in the upcoming 2024 general elections, noting how the results will influence their future.

“I firmly believe that under a Dr. Bawumia presidency, the NPP offers the students of this country the best opportunities to achieve their full potential in the 21st century.”

Additionally, the Manhyia South MP urged NUGS leaders to promote critical thinking and engagement among Gen Z voters, ensuring their voices are heard and helping shape the country’s future direction.
