Mitoma still on Barca’s ‘wanted’ list

Barcelona has expressed a strong interest in securing the services of Brighton’s standout talent, Kaoru Mitoma. Reports originating from Spain reveal that the La Liga champions’ scouts have been impressed by Mitoma’s exceptional dribbling skills and goal-scoring prowess.

Furthermore, Barcelona is well aware that the Japanese international’s contract is set to expire in 2025, making a potential deal feasible next summer, when Brighton is likely to consider cashing in on their valuable asset.

Mitoma has been among the Premier League’s top attackers since the previous season. In the 2022/23 campaign, he netted 10 goals and provided eight assists in various competitions, maintaining an impressive tally of seven goal involvements in just 11 matches so far this season.

The report emphasizes that Barcelona’s manager, Xavi, is eager to bolster his squad with a left-winger, as most of his existing options, such as Raphinha, Ferran Torres, and Lamine Yamal, tend to favor the right flank.

While the club’s primary focus is on acquiring a holding midfielder, the pursuit of Mitoma is also a priority.
