In anticipation of their upcoming semifinal match against Lionel Messi and Inter Miami, Jim Curtin, the manager of the Philadelphia Union, earnestly appealed to supporters not to part with their tickets.
Following a triumphant 2-1 win over Liga MX team Queretaro in the League Cup quarterfinals, Curtin, at the helm of Union, urged fans to retain their tickets despite the potential resale allure in the secondary market.
With the build-up to Tuesday night’s semifinal showdown, ticket prices have surged to as much as $1500 on the MLS ticketing platform SeatGeek.
“Please don’t sell your tickets, no matter how much money they’re offering for them, please,” he said at a press conference.
Curtin and the Union are hoping to retain their home-stadium advantage as the red-hot Argentine and Inter Miami come to town. Messi fans may have other plans in mind, though.
