Real Madrid’s acquisition of Kylian Mbappé doesn’t ensure they will replicate last season’s title triumph according to LaLiga president Javier Tebas.
Madrid, who clinched the LaLiga title with a 10-point lead and four games to spare in the 2023-24 season, have bolstered their squad by signing Mbappé on a five-year deal from Paris Saint-Germain.
This move has raised questions about the league’s competitiveness in the upcoming season, but in an interview with ESPN Mexico, Tebas expressed no concerns about the impact on LaLiga’s balance.
“A star arriving doesn’t always mean a team is better,” Tebas said. “There are other factors. [Toni] Kroos won’t carry on, Nacho [Fernández] won’t carry on either.
Without Mbappé, they won the league with four games left and with Mbappé now, it doesn’t mean they’ll win the league with eight games left. That won’t happen.”
