Manchester City is considering a move for teenager Kobbie Mainoo, who currently plays for their rival club, Manchester United, according to reports.

Mainoo, a UK-born Ghanaian with Ghanaian heritage, is highly regarded in English football and recently received praise for his performance, which included two assists, with Manchester City’s Under-21 team.

The talented midfielder had previously impressed during pre-season and was named the man of the match in a friendly game against Arsenal, though he later suffered an injury setback.

However, he has since recovered, and Manchester City is reportedly interested in signing him, despite the rivalry between the two clubs, as per Four Four Two.

The report doesn’t indicate whether Manchester United would be open to considering an offer from their fierce rivals.

Furthermore, the potential transfer fee remains unknown.

The interest from Manchester City is partly attributed to their commitment to nurturing young and talented players, while Manchester United is facing financial constraints due to financial fair play regulations.

Mainoo, who hails from Stockport, made his senior debut for Manchester United last season in the Carabao Cup match against Charlton.

He also played a significant role in the academy’s victory in the FA Youth Cup. The 18-year-old made his Premier League debut as a substitute in a 3-0 win against Leicester City.

Notably, Mainoo has only made one appearance for Manchester United but has already contributed two assists during that time.
