Crystal Palace secured their first league double over Manchester United with a commanding 4-0 victory at Selhurst Park.

Michael Olise opened the scoring after 13 minutes, running 20 yards unchallenged before slotting the ball past Andre Onana. Jean-Philippe Mateta doubled Palace’s lead with a powerful finish, his sixth consecutive goal at home.

Tyrick Mitchell added a third for Palace, tapping in from close range following a fine cross from Adam Wharton. Olise scored his second of the night, capitalizing on a Casemiro mistake to score a superb strike.

From the outset, Oliver Glasner’s team displayed a strong intent against a lackluster United side. United’s defensive performance was one of their worst this season, with Casemiro and Johnny Evans forming their 14th center-back partnership of the campaign.

Eberechi Eze and Olise controlled the midfield, causing United numerous problems. Despite a couple of threatening moments from United, including two disallowed goals from Casemiro, Palace dominated the game.

Odsonne Edouard almost extended Palace’s lead in injury time, hitting the post with his effort.

United’s hopes of European football are dwindling, with Europa Conference League football now the most realistic target. They must either finish seventh in the Premier League or win the FA Cup to secure European qualification.

United’s recent form, with just one win in seven matches, has seen them slide down to eighth in the table. Their next fixture against league leaders Arsenal presents another tough challenge for Erik ten Hag’s side.

The defeat and performance at Selhurst Park will be particularly disappointing for United fans, as the players appeared disinterested and lacked motivation throughout the match.
