Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mr Andrew Egyapa Mercer, has directed the immediate maintenance of the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park in Sekondi.
This directive comes after his visit to the park on Wednesday, June 19th, 2024, where he observed several maintenance gaps.
During his visit, Mr Mercer emphasized the need for immediate action to address these gaps.
The maintenance will include procuring additional mowers to ensure the lawns are well-kept, improving the irrigation system, regularly painting the walls, and contracting professional cleaning companies to keep the facility and its premises clean and well-preserved.

Recognizing the urgency of the situation, Mr Mercer has given the director of the facility a two-week deadline to rectify all the maintenance gaps. A follow-up visit will then be conducted to inspect the facility thoroughly.
The Minister reiterated his commitment to preserving Ghana’s tourism infrastructure for future generations, underscoring the importance of maintaining these cultural landmarks.
