Ghanaian media personality Afia Pokua, also known as Vim Lady, has shared her perspective on Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia‘s campaign and its impact on the party’s 2024 election prospects.
According to Vim Lady, since Dr. Bawumia’s nomination in the NPP Primaries, the party’s pre-election campaign has lagged behind the efforts of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) under John Dramani Mahama.
She pointed out that Dr. Bawumia is facing difficulties in addressing his previous statements about the economy, and believes that Kennedy Agyapong’s participation could be a significant advantage.
Speaking on Okay FM, she suggested that Agyapong might be essential in revitalizing the vice president’s campaign, which she feels has been underwhelming.
Vim Lady stated, “The NPP’s campaign has been shaky, but with Kennedy Agyapong’s involvement, it gains a fresh competitive edge. Mahama currently leads in campaign activities. If the NPP’s campaign were stronger, Agyapong’s help wouldn’t be needed.”
She highlighted Agyapong’s considerable influence and noted that some decisions by President Akufo-Addo have put the party at a disadvantage, adding to Bawumia’s challenges. With economic issues such as inflation and unemployment, Bawumia seems to be turning to Agyapong for support and solutions.
Her remarks followed Kennedy Agyapong’s appearance campaigning for Dr. Bawumia during the NPP Ashanti Regional campaign tour, which surprised many given their past differences.
