Le Havre faced a challenging streak without securing a single victory, despite participating in five matches—four league fixtures and one in the Coupe de France—during the month of February.
Luka Elsner’s team managed to draw against Monaco initially but encountered disappointing defeats against Strasbourg, Rennes, Lille, and Reims.
Amidst this tough period, the club struggled to find the net, only managing to score twice throughout February. One goal came from Ayew, the Black Stars skipper, while the other was an unfortunate own goal.
Despite the overall struggles, Ayew’s notable contributions earned him the title of Le Havre’s player of the month.
“He was the author of some great performances; you elected André Ayew player of the month for February!” the club announced on X (formerly Twitter).
Following Ayew’s remarkable strike against Lorient, which was voted Goal of the Month in Ligue 1 for January, his impressive form continued.
His spectacular bicycle kick earned Le Havre a crucial away point in their 3-3 draw with Lorient.
Ayew’s consistency in performance has been notable since his participation in the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Ivory Coast, despite Ghana’s group stage exit.
The former Olympique Marseille forward played a significant role in two of the Black Stars’ matches, thereby equaling the record for the most AFCON appearances made.
