President Akufo-Addo’s personal driver, Joseph Addo, has officially entered the race for the La Dedekotopon NPP Parliamentary primary, scheduled for April 27, 2024.
Following vetting and approval by the party’s Greater Accra Elections Committee, Addo expressed confidence in his candidature, affirming his commitment to reclaiming the seat for the NPP.
“I was born and bred here in La; I have lived all my life here so I am not new in this constituency.”
Following the resignation of Dr. Gerald Joseph Tetteh, the elected parliamentary candidate for the constituency, the National Executive Committee of the NPP authorised a primary election to fill the vacancy.
In response, Solomon Kotey Niikio, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for the area, has submitted his nomination for the contest.
Meanwhile, Joseph Addo, who boasts over 20 years of service as President Akufo-Addo’s driver, has also thrown his hat into the ring.
Addo emphasises his contributions to the constituency’s development as part of his candidature platform.
He adds that “recently, when the party needed an office space after the destruction of the old office, I personally worked to get a new office for the party”.
Joseph Addo is optimistic about securing victory in the primary on April 27th and emerging triumphant in the main election on December 7th.
The NPP, which lost the La Dedekotopon seat to the NDC’s Rita Naa Odoley Sowah in the 2020 election, is eager to regain control of the constituency in the upcoming December polls.
