Veteran football administrator, Jonathan Abbey Pobi has questioned Kwesi Appiah‘s decision to apply for the vacant Black Stars job.
Appiah has confirmed that he has applied for the job having had two stints with the team.
The 62-year-old led the team to the 2014 World Cup and the 2019 African Cup of Nations [AFCON] in Egypt.
However, the Ghana Football Association [GFA] parted ways with Kwesi Appiah following the expiration of his contract.
According to Abbey Pobi, the factors that hindered the 62-year-old’s stints in charge of the senior national team still exist.
“Kwesi Appiah shouldn’t have applied,” he told Citi Sports. “Because, in his own book that he has written, and he has mentioned some names.
“Those people who were not giving him chance to do his work. These people where are they? Are they not in existence?
“So, why is Kwesi Appiah coming back?” he added.
Meanwhile, the country’s football governing body are expected to name a new trainer this month before the Black Stars playing body regroup for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations [AFCON] qualifiers in March.
Reports in the local media suggest that the Sudanese Football Association and Tanzania club, Simba SC are interested in securing the services of Kwesi Appiah.
