Media personalities Kwasi Aboagye and MC Yaa Yeboah have found themselves in a heated debate sparked by earlier comments from Nana Ama McBrown about cooking shows in the country.
The disagreement originated from McBrown’s remarks during a phone interview with Medikal on Onua TV. She addressed what she saw as attempts to imitate the success of her cooking show, ‘McBrown Kitchen’.
McBrown acknowledged the competitive landscape but expressed her faith in divine blessings, saying, “While I support anyone trying to earn their livelihood, those truly blessed by God will always stand out.”
She hinted at others trying to copy her show but stressed that genuine blessings would ultimately prevail.
During a segment on Peace FM’s Entertainment Review show, MC Yeboah criticized McBrown for her comments about other cooking shows airing on different channels. She suggested that the ‘McBrown’s Kitchen’ host shouldn’t claim sole ownership of the genre or criticize others.
MC Yeboah highlighted the long-standing presence of cooking shows on Ghanaian television, citing examples like Gifty Anti’s ‘Asanka Delight’, and felt McBrown’s response during the interview with Medikal was unnecessary.
“Cooking shows have been around in Ghana for a long time. I remember Gifty Anti’s ‘Asanka Delight’ from way back. I think McBrown’s answer during the interview with Medikal was uncalled for because the question didn’t warrant such a response,” she stated.
Kwasi Aboagye, the show’s host, however, disagreed with MC Yeboah, supporting McBrown’s viewpoint.
He defended McBrown’s right to express her opinions, saying such debates were common among hosts and that MC Yeboah might have reacted similarly in McBrown’s position.
“There’s nothing wrong with it. As a host, these discussions are normal. Let’s not pretend otherwise; you might have responded even more strongly,” he argued.
