Koku Anyidoho, formerly the Deputy General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), circulated a correspondence bearing a letterhead purportedly from the party’s National Secretariat.
This two-page letter implied that the NDC provided financial backing to an independent candidate during the April 30 by-election in Ejisu.
The first page contained instructions from General Secretary Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, purportedly directing the Ashanti Regional branch to support independent candidate Kwabena Owusu Aduomi.
However, it’s worth noting that the NDC did not nominate a candidate for this election.
Despite the NDC’s dismissal of the letter as fraudulent, labeling it as fake, Anyidoho remains adamant, suggesting that the denial came too late.
He doubled down on his stance, criticizing what he perceives as belated and lackluster professionalism within the party’s headquarters, where he has previously worked.
The difference between the alleged ‘fake’ letter and the authentic NDC letterhead:
a. Anyidoho’s letter carries the party’s reference number ‘NDC/HQ/26/VOL.2/19,’ which had already been used for an official statement released by Kwetey on March 27.
b. Anyidoho’s letter includes a ‘Your Ref:’ section, which is absent in known NDC letterheads.
c. Known NDC letterheads used by Kwetey in formal communications lack postal, telephone, and email details, whereas Anyidoho’s version includes a contact section on the right side of the references.
d. Official NDC letterheads have dates under the ‘Our reference’ section, formatted as Day, Date, Month, Year. However, Anyidoho’s version lacks the day and positions the date on the right instead of the left side.
e. In typical party correspondence, the General Secretary’s sign-off includes ‘Fifi Fiavi Kwetey’ followed by ‘General Secretary,’ then ‘National Democratic Congress (NDC).’ Anyidoho’s letter omits the third detail.
f. Anyidoho’s letter displays irregular formatting for persons listed under ‘cc:’, with the text appearing smaller and squeezed to the bottom compared to the font used throughout the letter.
