Parasitology and Global Health Professor at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), Prof. Alexander Yaw Debrah, has been chosen as a key speaker at UN Science Summit.
KNUST’s statement disclosed ISC Intelligence in Science’s summit uniting global thought leaders, scientists, policymakers, and experts on September 12, 2023, to address critical scientific challenges within the theme “Science’s Role in Achieving UN Sustainable Development Goals.”
Prof. Debrah’s directorial role in the TAKeOFF project, funded by German Federal Ministry of Education and Research, earned him recognition.
This adds insights to the “Research Networks for Health Innovations in Sub-Saharan Africa (RHISSA) with DLR-PT” session, promoting interactive discussions and collaboration for sustainable development.
With a PhD in Medical Parasitology, Prof. Debrah’s primary focus on Neglected Tropical Diseases, notably filariasis, has led to significant international partnerships and grants surpassing 15 million euros.
His work boasts over 100 peer-reviewed publications and recognition through awards including American Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene Travel Award, nominations by VW Foundation and German Paul-Ehrlich-Society’s bi-annual main prize.
His contributions to KNUST range from Examinations Officer to Acting Provost of the College of Health Sciences.
He also holds National and International positions, such as Chair of the Planning Committee of the Interscience Conference on Antimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy.
