Rap icon Kanye Omari West known popularly as Kanye West’s daughter North West, surprised attendees at the Footprint Center in Phoenix, Arizona on Sunday, March 10.
Making her musical debut on the Vultures 1 track “Talking,” North took centre stage as her father paused the event to share her exciting announcement.
With the crowd hushed in anticipation, North, also known as Northie, confidently revealed, “Hi, it’s Northie, and I’ve been working on an album for a long time.” The album, titled “Elementary School Drop Out,” pays homage to her father’s groundbreaking debut, “The College Dropout.”
Although the release date for North’s album remains uncertain, her Billboard Hot 100 debut with “Talking” last month has already established her as one of the youngest acts to chart, peaking at No. 30.
In attendance at the event were Ye and Kim’s other children, Chicago West (6) and Psalm West (4).
Meanwhile, Kanye West hinted at ongoing studio work for the long-anticipated Vultures 2, the follow-up to its predecessor that faced multiple delays.
Kanye mentioned that Vultures 2 will not be available on traditional streaming services like Spotify and Apple Music.
In a recent DM exchange with a fan page, he explained, “Was talking with the team about how to release the next album. Like James Blake said, streaming devalues our music. We sell albums on Yeezy.com.”
Kanye emphasised the potential impact of his social media presence, asserting, “I got 20 million Instagram followers.
When five percent of my followers buy an album, that’s one million albums sold, that’s 300K more than the biggest album last year.”
