Kabiru declared Walewale Parliamentary Candidate for NPP

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has officially confirmed Dr. Tia Abdul-Kabiru Mahama as its parliamentary candidate for the Walewale constituency, following a key decision made by the party’s National Executive Committee (NEC) during a meeting held on Wednesday, September 11, 2024.

This decision comes after the withdrawal of the incumbent Member of Parliament for the constituency, Lariba Zuweira Abudu, who was one of the two aspirants vying for the parliamentary ticket in the upcoming elections. With Zuweira stepping down from the contest, Dr. Mahama became the sole contender, securing his candidacy unopposed.

In a statement issued by the party’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, the NPP expressed high regard for Zuweira’s selfless decision to withdraw and called for unity and support for Dr. Mahama’s candidacy across all stakeholders in the Walewale constituency.

The party emphasized the need for cooperation and collective effort, stating that Dr. Mahama’s candidacy should be supported wholeheartedly to ensure the NPP retains its hold on the Walewale seat in the upcoming elections.

Dr. Tia Abdul-Kabiru Mahama, a well-respected figure in the region, is expected to bring fresh momentum to the NPP’s campaign in Walewale as the party prepares for the 2024 general elections. His selection marks a significant moment for the constituency, as the NPP seeks to consolidate its presence in the Northern Region.

The NPP expressed its gratitude to Lariba Zuweira Abudu for her contributions and urged the constituency to rally behind the new parliamentary candidate as the party looks forward to a successful campaign.
