Former Minority Chief Whip and MP for Asawase, Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka, has criticized the New Patriotic Party’s goal of securing over 80% of the vote in the Ashanti Region for the December elections, describing it as unrealistic.
Muntaka argued that the NPP’s poor performance in the region will be felt at the ballot box, leading to repercussions.
In a statement to reporters in Kumasi, Muntaka expressed doubt about the NPP’s ability to meet their ambitious target, citing the visible difficulties they face.
“With all the struggles that are so glaring, are you going to deny us from voting? Or how are you going to get the 85%? I heard somebody screaming about 85% and I said this guy is coming from some kind of place.
I’m very optimistic that this time around the NDC should be able to get at least about 32% of votes in the Ashanti Region.”
