Internal conflicts will be addressed before 2024 elections – NPP Chairman

The National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Stephen Ntim, has promised to address internal party conflicts as the party prepares for the December elections.

Recent disputes, such as members running as independent candidates in the 2024 parliamentary elections, have led to dissatisfaction among party members.

Speaking at a significant rally in Ejisu on Sunday, April 28, Mr. Ntim reassured supporters that the party would take decisive action to resolve these issues and maintain unity.

He urged all party members to remain calm and united as they prepare for the upcoming tasks.

“I do not want issues of independent candidature to plague our party”, Ntim stated as he wooed electorates to vote for the NPP’s Kwabena Boateng.”

“And it is obvious that such individuals are closest members of our great party. But I can assure you that when Kwabena Boateng is elected MP for Ejisu our national leadership will ensure that all internal issues in the various constituencies will be resolved, he added.

Hundreds of supporters of the ruling party gathered in Ejisu and other locations for final campaign rallied ahead of the polls on 30 April. The streets were filled with political messaging as the ruling party presented Kwabena Boateng to retain the seat.

President Akufo-Addo, who joined the campaign trail, addressed the crowd and responded to accusations made by former NPP MP turned independent candidate Kwabena Owusu Aduomi.

Mr Aduomi, who left the NPP to contest independently, alleged that the ruling party was planning to win the late John Kumah’s seat through intimidation and rigging tactics.

President Akufo-Addo dismissed Aduomi’s claims, questioning their validity given Aduomi’s prior victories under the NPP banner. He urged voters in Ejisu to disregard Aduomi’s allegations and emphasized the importance of a fair election process.

“In 2008, when he defeated the incumbent MP, who was even a Cabinet Minister, did the NPP rig the elections for him?

“So why does he now allege that we will rig the elections just because he has been defeated by someone else? Is this fair?” he asked.
