Adib Saani, a security analyst, has raised alarm about the Upper West’s prolonged security situation and its potential economic effects.
He asserted that the current state of affairs would serve as a deterrent to investors who might otherwise be interested in making significant investments in the area, which has abundant resources and potential.
The Security Analyst advised the government to swiftly implement strict measures targeted at establishing peace and stability to the region in an interview with GhanaWeb Business.
“If the scenario remains, the major players in the mining industry, in particular, who have already invested extensively in the region and others who may be preparing to do so, may be deterred.”
“Government intervention is much required now to resolve this issue,” he added.
In the last couple of weeks, the Upper West region has been experiencing a number of violent incidents such as mob attacks, robbery, kidnapping and murder.
These acts have resulted in security among residents and non-residents in the region with security agencies expanding their presence in order to address the situation.
