India urges Canadian citizens to exercise caution

India has told its people going to Canada to be very careful.

The recommendation comes a day after tensions increased between the countries when they each kicked out a diplomat from the other side.

Canada is looking into believable claims that connect the Indian government to the murder of a Sikh leader who wanted to break away from India.

India said this was not true and called the accusations “ridiculous”.

Experts say that the relationship between the countries has become very bad and is now worse than ever before.

India’s foreign ministry released a warning on Wednesday because they are concerned about the increasing anti-India actions and supported hate crimes and violence happening in Canada.

The Indian government is not happy when Sikh separatists in other countries ask for Khalistan, which means a separate home for Sikhs.

The Khalistan movement, which was most intense in the 1980s, was a violent fight that happened in Punjab state, where most of the people practiced the Sikh religion.

It was stopped using violence and is not really important in India anymore, but there are still some people in the Sikh community living in countries like Canada, Australia, and the UK who like it.

Canada has the most Sikhs living outside of Punjab, and there have been many protests and demonstrations in support of Khalistan in the country. In June, news said India had expressed concerns to Canada about the safety of its diplomats there.

In a statement on Wednesday, Delhi said that its diplomats and some Indians who are against the anti-India plans have been receiving threats.

The advice is for people from India to not travel to areas in Canada where such incidents have occurred.
“Video explanation,”

Trudeau: We don’t want to make India angry or upset.

On Monday, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said that intelligence agencies are looking into whether the government of India had any connection to the killing of a Canadian citizen named Hardeep Singh Nijjar. In 2020, India had labeled Nijjar as a terrorist.

Nijjar was killed in his car by two people with masks outside a Sikh temple on June 18th in British Columbia.

MrTrudeau said on Monday that if a foreign government is involved in killing a Canadian citizen in Canada, it is a violation of our country’s power and is not acceptable.

India responded strongly, stating that Canada was attempting to divert attention from Khalistani terrorists and extremists who were being harbored there.

Some Indian news said that Delhi’s announcement was similar to a warning from Canada to its citizens traveling to India. Canada’s government said that it had recently updated its travel advice for India. However, they explained that this update was part of their regular maintenance of travel health information.

The spokesperson from the BBC said that there is no new information about any risks added to the India Travel Advice and Advisories page. The government of Ottawa is telling its citizens to be really careful because there is a possibility of terrorist attacks happening all over India.
