A well-known master of ceremony (MC) and entertainment pundit based in Kumasi, Portfolio has raised concerns about the apparent decline in music concert bookings for Ghanaian rapper Sarkodie.
In a recent social media post on Monday, April 15, Portfolio pointed out that despite Sarkodie’s stature as a BET award-winning artist, he hasn’t been seen performing at many shows apart from those he organizes himself.
Portfolio questioned whether Sarkodie has become more selective about the shows he accepts or if event organizers are finding it difficult to meet his performance fees.
“I’ve been concerned about KING Sarkodie for some time now. Is he turning down offers or are they simply not coming his way? Is he being choosy or are promoters struggling to afford him? He rarely features at shows other than his own concerts and tours,” Portfolio’s post read.
Sarkodie, renowned as one of Africa’s most decorated rappers with over a decade of experience in the industry, has garnered numerous international accolades.
He was recently honoured as the Artist of the Decade at the Ghana Music Awards, a title previously awarded only to legendary artist Kwadwo Antwi.
I have been worried for KING @sarkodie for some years now chale! Is it that he has been turning down the shows or the shows don’t come? Is he being selective or promoters can’t afford him now? Cux chale landlord no de play shows koraa o except his own shows and tours !
