‘ I’m sorry’ – Dumelo to Lydia Alhassan for accusing her of killing her husband

NDC parliamentary candidate for Ayawaso West Wuogon, John Dumelo, has issued an apology for his recent accusations against Lydia Seyram Alhassan, the NPP Member of Parliament for the constituency.

During a segment on TV3’s “Community Watch,” Dumelo implied that Alhassan may have been involved in her husband’s death to gain political power.

His remarks came after NPP supporters taunted him with references to the “V8 saga” during his speech. Dumelo has since retracted his statements and expressed regret for his unfounded claims.

He said, “I want to say something. I can see their supporters have been mentioning V8, V8, V8. If that is the case, then it is also fair to say that maybe Lydia is the one who killed her husband to become MP.

That is it because if they want to go that tangent, I can also go the same tangent. If they want to go that tangent, I will go the same tangent because this time around, it is boot for boot.”

John Dumelo’s recent remarks about Lydia Seyram Alhassan did not go down well with many social media users, particularly on X (formerly Twitter).

Facing backlash for his comments, Dumelo responded by taking to X to issue an apology.

He acknowledged his mistake and expressed regret for the statement he made during the TV3 “Community Watch” program, aiming to clear the air and mend relations with those offended by his words.

“I apologise and retract the comments I made earlier today on TV3,” he said.
