Founder of the New Force Movement, Nana Kwame Bediako, has promised to create over one million jobs through food processing if elected.

He emphasized that these jobs would significantly improve the salaries and living standards of the workers.

Bediako made this commitment during a meeting with leaders of the Trades Union Congress (TUC) in Accra on May 23.

He introduced several policies he plans to implement if he wins the December 7, 2024 election, with a strong focus on job creation in agriculture and other sectors.

“When we start processing our foods, we can have seven different jobs in one seed. Currently, we are the second-largest producer of cocoa, but the $200 billion chocolate industry benefits us very little,” he said, highlighting the potential of Ghana’s natural resources.

Bediako also discussed other key areas of interest, including healthcare and education. Dr. Anthony Yaw Baah, Secretary General of TUC, praised Bediako’s vision and commitment, referencing a conversation where Bediako explained his innovative ideas, such as dredging the sea to Kumasi.

In addition to his meeting with the TUC, Bediako met with the Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA) on May 22, where he promised to reduce excessive taxes suffocating businesses if elected.

He acknowledged the challenges faced by traders and committed to revising tax policies to support local businesses better.

“I’ll look into making taxes reasonable overnight. Importing from other countries and facing high taxes means the profit we should make is eroded by interest and living costs. I would definitely revise the taxes,” he assured.
