In a recent interview on Accra 100.5 FM, popular rapper Kweku Darlington expressed his strong preference for settling down with a traditional Ghanaian woman, emphasising the importance of cultural values in his choice of a life partner.
The Sika Aba Fie hitmaker highlighted the significance of Ghanaian traditions, particularly in relation to food preparation.
“I’m a pure Ashanti man. We don’t joke with our culture and traditions, especially our food,” Darlington asserted, revealing his desire for a bride who can prepare fufu using the traditional method of pounding with a pestle and mortar.
Darlington went on to explain that he values the distinct roles assigned to men and women in Akan traditions, emphasising that men are responsible for providing for the family while women handle domestic tasks such as food and clothing.
He expressed concerns about Western women deviating from these cultural norms, citing examples such as doing one’s laundry and preparing meals individually.
While acknowledging the beauty of Western and Westernised women, the rapper asserted that his focus is on finding a partner who shares his cultural values rather than pursuing a union solely based on appearance.
Darlington expressed reservations about potential complications in relationships with Western women, suggesting that they might lead to imprisonment for minor issues.
In essence, Kweku Darlington’s stance reflects a commitment to preserving and upholding traditional Ghanaian values in his personal life, particularly in the context of marriage and family dynamics.
