Legendary Ghanaian footballer Asamoah Gyan has revealed that he actively advocated for the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to host Black Stars matches in Kumasi.
Known as the ‘spiritual home’ of Ghanaian football, Kumasi holds a special place in Gyan’s heart due to his affinity for Asante Kotoko and the people of Asanteman.
In a lively discussion with his elder brother Baffour Gyan, Asamoah playfully acknowledged their ongoing banter over their love for Asante Kotoko.
Baffour Gyan, who fulfilled their shared dream by playing for Asante Kotoko in the 2011/2012 season, emphasized that playing for the club was the ultimate demonstration of love for Asanteman and the team.
Despite not having played for Asante Kotoko himself, Asamoah Gyan affirmed his deep affection for the club by actively pushing for international games to be hosted in Kumasi during his tenure as captain of the Black Stars.
