I regret womanising – Asamoah Gyan

Ghana’s record goal scorer, Asamoah Gyan, candidly admitted that he struggled with womanising during his peak years, acknowledging that it was a detrimental aspect of his life.

Reflecting on his past mistakes during an interview on Onua TV, the former Black Stars captain shared valuable life lessons, urging young people to avoid the pitfalls of womanising, citing his own experiences as a cautionary tale.

“Everybody is a womaniser, but womanising did not help me. I will advise partners to keep their issues between themselves,” he said.

Asamoah Gyan, the renowned Ghanaian footballer, ended his decade-long marriage to Gifty Gyan in 2023 after a court officially annulled their union on October 31, 2023.

The couple, who share three children, now navigate life post-divorce, with Gifty granted custody while Gyan is responsible for child support.

Edwin Kusi Appiah, Gyan’s legal representative, shed light on the circumstances leading to the divorce during an interview with Kofi TV.

Kusi Appiah revealed that Gyan had been plagued by persistent threats from a man claiming to be the true father of his children, particularly the firstborn.

These troubling accusations ultimately drove Gyan to gather evidence and seek the annulment of his marriage, concluding a difficult chapter in his personal life.

“Asamoah Gyan married his wife in 2013 but had been with her since 2003. He got information that prior to marrying her, the lady had married another man.

Their marriage had three kids with the firstborn coming in 2005. Asamoah Gyan told me he was threatened by someone that the children, particularly the firstborn, were not his and that they belonged to him (the person issuing the threat).

“That is what forced us to go to court and seek permission to conduct DNA on the kids. Thankfully, the DNA test proved that Gyan was the father of the children and he was really happy with it. Gyan was happy because he loved the children. That is the main reason Asamoah Gyan went to court,” he said.
