The Second Lady, Samira Bawumia, has shared the charming story of how Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia proposed to her before their marriage ceremony.

She clarified that she met Dr. Bawumia four years after completing her studies at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) and was already working.

In an interview with Asempa FM Samira Bawumia expressed happiness in their sixteen-year marriage, which has blessed them with four children.

During the interview, a listener asked where Dr. Bawumia proposed to her, drawing a comparison with Barack Obama proposing to Michelle at a restaurant. Samira laughed and responded, “But do Ghanaian men intentionally propose? We have been married for sixteen (16) years. The marriage ceremony was held on 14th February 2004. I went to school early so I completed Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in 2000. So I married after four years of completion.

“We did not meet right after I completed University; it was after some years. We met through mutual friends who introduced us. Immediately he [Dr. Bawumia] saw me, he realised I was the right fit for him. Now we have four children, three girls, and one strong boy.”

She clarified that they didn’t meet immediately after her university studies, and their introduction happened through mutual friends.

The second lady added humorously that when Dr. Bawumia saw her, he knew she was the right fit for him. The couple now has four children, three girls, and one strong boy.

Samira Bawumia’s marriage has been notably free of controversies, setting an example for others.

Meanwhile, Dr. Bawumia, currently the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), aims to achieve his presidential ambitions by winning the 2024 general elections.
