Renowned for her sweet vocals and infectious melodies and Nigeria’s musical sensation, Simi is back with a fresh track titled “All I Want,” described by the artist herself as irresistibly “sticky.”
“It’s the kind of tune that lodges itself in your mind and refuses to leave, even when you try to shake it off. I absolutely adore that aspect of it,” she enthuses.
“All I Want” serves as the lead single from her forthcoming album slated for release later this year, featuring a blend of R&B, highlife, and hip hop, all infused with her distinct personality, she assures.
However, one notable absence from the album will be South Africa’s pervasive amapiano sound.
“I like to listen to amapiano – I think it’s groovy and everything – but I’ve tried it and it’s not a sound I personally have enjoyed making. So there’s no amapiano track on the album… unless something changes!’
With a fulfilling personal life alongside her equally talented husband, Adekunle Gold, and their four-year-old daughter (who, contrary to popular belief, is not named Duduke), Simi may indeed feel content.
Despite relocating to the US to explore new opportunities and expand their fanbase, Simi frequently travels to Nigeria despite her aversion to flying.
In recent years, she has enjoyed successful collaborations with Ladipoe (“Know You”) and Candy Bleakz (“Wale”), along with the release of “Look What You Made Me Do,” her latest collaboration with her husband, which dropped last year.
“I love making music with him,” Simi says.
“He’s so talented, it was so exciting – especially working on the bridge because it’s such a classic duet.”
