Martha Ankomah, a prominent Ghanaian actress, has refuted claims that fellow actor Kwadwo Nkansah, popularly known as LilWin, has sought an out-of-court settlement regarding her defamation lawsuit against him. This follows reports from GhOne News indicating that an Accra High Court had been informed of LilWin’s intention to settle the matter outside of court.
In an exclusive interview with GhanaWeb Entertainment on August 1, 2024, Ankomah denied these claims, stating that the case remains in court and neither LilWin nor his legal team has approached her directly for a settlement.
“It is not true, LilWin has never approached me for an out-of-court settlement. The case is still in court. He hasn’t even approached me personally; he has only sent people to come and talk to me,” she clarified.
Ankomah also confirmed that LilWin has been absent from all court proceedings since the case began.
However, she expressed her willingness to drop the lawsuit if LilWin issues a public apology for his remarks.
“If he does the right thing, why not? I am a Christian; I am ready to forgive. He came out to insult me publicly, so it is only fair that he comes back out to retract and apologize for his statements,” she said.
The lawsuit was initiated by Ankomah after LilWin made derogatory comments about her in a viral video, which she claims harmed her reputation and that of the textile brand GTP. Ankomah is seeking GH¢5 million in damages, both compensatory and aggravated, along with an apology, a retraction, and an injunction to prevent further defamatory statements.
The conflict began after Ankomah expressed her interest in collaborating with Kumawood actors due to their compelling storylines during an interview on Accra FM. LilWin responded with a series of insults in a video, which led to Ankomah’s defamation suit.
