Renowned Nollywood actor Zack Orji recently disclosed his struggle with amnesia prior to undergoing crucial surgeries, shedding light on his challenging health journey.
Following his collapse in the bathroom, Orji endured two critical brain surgeries, with the revelation of his amnesia adding a touching layer to his recovery saga.
Recounting his ordeal in an interview with Channels TV, Orji revealed that he had slipped into a coma lasting a staggering five and a half hours.
“It’s truly by the grace of God that I’m here today because I lost consciousness. I remained unconscious for about five and a half hours before help arrived,” he recounted, reflecting on the severity of the situation.
Orji expressed gratitude to his colleagues Benedict Johnson and Labista, who swiftly responded to his distress and assisted in transporting him to the National Hospital.
Their timely intervention was crucial in facilitating Orji’s medical care during the critical moments following his collapse.
Detailing the medical procedures he underwent, Orji shared that the first surgery occurred on January 1st.
However, complications arose when subsequent scans revealed a residual blood clot, necessitating a second surgery a month later.
The actor candidly discussed the impact of amnesia on his post-operative experience, recalling how he struggled to recognize individuals and recall recent interactions.
He credited his wife for providing clarity during this foggy period, recounting how she informed him of visitors and conversations he couldn’t recall.
Reflecting on the turning point in his recovery, Orji vividly recalled waking up from surgery and immediately inquiring about the date.
His wife’s response, confirming it was New Year’s Day, sparked a heartwarming moment as he joyously wished everyone a happy new year, signalling his return to clarity and awareness.
