Renowned Nigerian singer and songwriter, Oludipe Oluwasanmi David, professionally known as Spyro, recently opened up about his early struggles in the music industry during an interview on the ‘teawithtaypod’ with Taymesan.
The artist shared a candid revelation, disclosing that he once knelt in public to beg an influencer to assist in promoting his song.
Speaking about the catalyst behind the viral success of his track, “Who is your guy,” Spyro credited popular content creator Craze Clown for the boost.
He recounted how Craze Clown, impressed by the song, generously promoted it across various social media platforms, even creating TikTok videos that contributed to its widespread recognition.
Spyro admitted to reaching out to several influencers for song promotion, facing rejection in many cases.
He highlighted the stark contrast in Craze Clown’s support, emphasising that the influencer not only promoted the song for free but also went above and beyond by creating numerous content pieces.
The level of promotion was so intense that people began associating the song more with CrazeClown than Spyro.
Recalling his efforts to seek assistance from other influencers, Spyro revealed a poignant moment when he knelt down in front of an influencer, in the presence of onlookers, pleading for support.
Despite the humility displayed, the influencer remained unresponsive to Spyro’s request.
In essence, Spyro’s journey in the music industry has been marked by both challenges and unexpected support, with Craze Clown playing a pivotal role in elevating his music to a wider audience.
