Mathew Opoku Prempeh, the running mate for the flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has refuted claims by the opposition suggesting that the former Energy Minister is unwell.
Abroad-based podcaster Kelvin Taylor has been vocal about his concerns, suggesting that Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, also known as Napo is not fit to campaign and should rather focus on his health over political ambitions.
In reaction to these concerns, Dr Opoku Prempeh has clarified that he is not unwell but in good health. He urged his supporters to disregard such rumours.
“No one should listen to them because I’m not sick, I’m fit and strong,” he is quoted to have said by Opera News in a report.
A Pro-NDC user on X (formerly Twitter) by the name Uncle Paa Kwesi has claimed that Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, the running mate for New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has traveled to Germany for medical treatment.
According to the page, “Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh (NAPO), running mate for NPP flys to Germany for medical treatment. Ghana is with you in our prayers”.
Although close sources within the NPP’s running mate campaign have refuted the claim, this X user has refused to back down on his unverified claim.
This assertion comes after some Ghanaians suggested that Dr Opoku Prempeh may be ill due to the recent change in his physical appearance.
Photos of the politician in recent times show a loss in weight.
