Polish investigators stopped looking into human bones found at a place where Hitler and other Nazis were because the bones were too old to figure out how the people died, according to a spokesperson on Monday.
The body was found in February. 24 at Wolf’s Lair, which was Hitler’s main office from 1941-44 when it was in Germany. Around 200 Nazi bunkers and military buildings were hidden in the woods. This is where Colonel tried to kill Hitler, but it didn’t work. The place is now popular with tourists.
The person who speaks for the prosecutor’s office in Ketrzyn, Daniel Brodowski, said the police found the remains after a local group called Latebra, which looks for old things, found them.
A doctor looked at them with the prosecutor’s office to see if they were responsible for someone’s death. It stopped looking into the case in March because there wasn’t enough proof that a crime had happened, Brodowski said in an email to The Associated Press.
“The bone remains are from at least four people – three men and one child. The child’s gender is unknown. ”
He said that because the remains were very old and decayed, it was not possible to figure out how the person died. He also mentioned that it had been at least several dozen years since the person died.
