Let’s prioritize the interest of Ghana – Dampare appeals to Ghanaians

The Inspector General of Police, Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, has urged Ghanaians to exhibit profound patriotism, maturity, and compassion for fellow citizens during the forthcoming December 2024 general elections.

Addressing an election readiness event organized by the Trades Union Congress in Accra, Dr. Dampare underscored the pivotal roles of both security agencies and the populace in ensuring a seamless and peaceful electoral process.

He assured the public of the security agencies’ readiness to maintain law and order throughout the elections, while emphasizing the indispensable need for cooperation from all stakeholders.

“The security agencies are ready for the elections, ready to keep the peace, ready to secure the country, and ready to ensure law and order. And all that we have to do as citizens is to play our part, and all other stakeholders must do is to play their part,” Dr. Dampare affirmed.

Emphasizing collective obligations, Dr. Dampare outlined three core principles to guide Ghanaians during the electoral period: maturity, patriotism, and empathy.

He highlighted the critical importance of maturity across all age demographics, urging individuals to approach the elections with composure and rationality.

“Patriotism towards the nation is crucial such that we put Ghana first and prioritize the interests of our country above all else. Additionally, we need to demonstrate love for humanity, recognizing the inherent dignity and worth of every individual,” Dr. Dampare remarked.
