He also emphasized the need for deliberate policies aimed at protecting and promoting Ghanaian entrepreneurs to foster the country’s growth and development.

Dr. Agyepong highlighted the missing link to achieving this potential, which lies in providing encouragement and support to elevate Ghanaian entrepreneurs to capitalize on development opportunities and provide innovative solutions for growth.

The newly commissioned waste treatment plant has a designed capacity of 1,000 cubic meters per day and is a significant upgrade from the unstructured waste disposal at Sofokrom.

Dr. Agyepong revealed that the establishment of Zoomlion years ago aimed to lead the way in waste management solutions by transforming waste from being considered a problem to becoming a valuable raw material for the next production cycle.

The project aligns with the Ghanaian government’s vision of making the country the cleanest in Africa.

Apart from its waste treatment capacity, the facility is expected to generate approximately 400 direct jobs and over 1,000 indirect employment opportunities.

The project was designed and implemented with the assistance of Pureco KFT-Hungary, a Hungarian company that manufactured the machinery and ensured the facility meets high international standards and safety protocols.

Hungary’s State Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Tristan Azbej, praised the completion of the project as a significant milestone in the partnership between Ghana and Hungary.

The Western Regional Minister, Mr. Kwabena Darko-Mensah, also lauded the completion of phase one of the project, which will greatly improve waste treatment in the region, where currently only 10 percent of the faecal waste is treated.
