How Kwami Sefa Kayi fell in love with Kwabena Kwabena’s ‘Aso’

Ghanaian media personality, broadcast journalist and public speaker Kwami Sefa Kayi also known as Chairman General recounted how he fell in love with Kwabena Kwabena’s  “Aso.”

The renowned broadcast journalist said his first encounter with the musician dated back to 2005 at the University of Cape Coast.

He asserted that fellow colleague in the media space thus Randy Abbey and Kwasi Aboagye both had an influence in him developing a likeness for the song.

Kwame Sefa Kayi revealed that he couldn’t hold back as the song was too melodious and entertaining hence the consistent airplays.

Ghanaian media icon, Kwami Sefa Kayi, fondly known as Chairman General, recently shared a nostalgic tale of how he fell head over heels for Kwabena Kwabena’s hit song, “Aso,” dating back to 2005.

The veteran broadcaster recounted the charming story of his first encounter with the musician at the University of Cape Coast and attributed his love for the song to the influential role played by media colleagues Randy Abbey and Kwasi Aboagye.

Sefa Kayi revealed that the song’s irresistible melody and entertainment value compelled him to give it consistent airplay, turning it into a personal favourite over the years.

“I met you around 2005, end of 2005, I encountered you at the University of Cape Coast, I remember I was playing your song. I fell in love with your song because of Randy Abbey. Kwesi Aboagye introduced it to Randy Abbey so if I came to love this song and I continue to play it, it is a combination of Kwesi Aboagye and Randy Abbey.

“I sat with Randy at a spot having a conversation, where suddenly your song popped up, I told him song, I like it brutal so later I heard Kwesi Aboagye playing it and Randy said tomorrow play it for me so I came to play the song , I came to like the song and at the end of the day I played the music more than everyone,” Kwame Sefa Kayi stated.

Kwabena Kwabena’s breakthrough came in 2004 when he recorded his debut album ASO.

Three of the songs were used in the soundtrack of Sparrow Productions’s The Perfect Picture.

Some of his hits include Ka kyere me, Trodom, Adea waye me, Fakye me, and Me ne woa.

He released his second album, Dabi,. Kwabena Kwabena has a strong passion for philanthropic work and believes in his Ghanaian environment.

This passion spurred him on to set up the KwabenaKwabena Save A Life Foundation.

Kwabena went on to achieve a number of local and international awards some of which include, the best vocal performance and the best songwriter.
