About the competition:
Following media personality Afua Asantewaa Aduonum’s recent sing-a-thon world record attempt, another Ghanaian has commenced a new effort to break a Guinness World Record.
As people ushered in the year 2024 in various settings, Chef Failatu Abdul Razak in the northern region embarked on a mission to set a new Guinness World Record for the longest cooking marathon.
Her goal is to achieve a 120-hour cook-a-thon, and the event is taking place at the Modern City Hotel in Tamale.
Initial videos shared by the state broadcaster, GTV, depicted Failatu and her assistants in a glass-shielded kitchen adorned with images of Chef Faila.
The concept of a cook-a-thon gained popularity in 2023 when Nigerian chef Hilda Baci broke the then-world record. However, an Irish chef, Alan Fisher, later surpassed her by cooking for 119 hours, 57 minutes, and 16 seconds.
