Former President John Dramani Mahama‘s special aide, Joyce Bawah Mograri, has criticized the government’s Performance Tracker, calling it a wasteful use of resources and accusing it of being misleading.

In a tweet, she expressed disappointment that the tracker failed to monitor the performance of the Akufo Addo/Bawumia administration on corruption, instead focusing on other government projects.

“To my utter surprise and disappointment, the misleading GoG Performance Tracker, failed to track the performance of Akufo Addo/Bawumia’s performance on corruption. What a waste of precious resources! Tell us how you and your boys and girls have perfected the art of corruption.

“We are told that 80% of government projects and contracts are single-sourced, and individuals and companies are handpicked by this nepotistic government and awarded juicy contracts. That is what this NPP government should be tracking down and paying back to the now miserably empty public purse,” she wrote on her x platform.

The Performance Tracker, launched in Accra on April 10, monitors government performance across various sectors, including over 13,000 projects nationwide.

Minister of Works and Housing, Kojo Oppong-Nkrumah, presented the platform, hailing it as a milestone in transparency and accountability.

He emphasized its user-friendly nature and encouraged active participation in governance.

“It’s user-friendly, with both website and mobile interfaces,” the foGoase Ayirebi lawmaker said.

Oppong-Nkrumah noted that the tracker builds upon the Delivery Tracker of 2020, reflecting the government’s commitment to continuous improvement. He commended Vice President Bawumia for the initiative and urged citizens to utilize the platform for informed governance participation.

“Congratulations to VP Bawumia for this initiative. I encourage all to use it for informed governance participation,” the former Information Minister wrote on his X platform.

During the launch at the Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), Oppong Nkrumah highlighted the tracker as a database showcasing government projects.

He emphasized its accessibility, allowing the public to track project statuses and even conduct physical inspections using their mobile phones.

“This government is the digitalization government and the general public can personally check with their phones, the status of the projects and even make a physical inspection if they wish to do so,” the Ofaose Ayirebi lawmaker said.
