Gov’t is committed to fixing all deplorable roads in Accra – Asenso-Boakye

Minister of Roads and Highways, Francis Asenso-Boakye, has assured residents of Greater Accra that the government is committed to repairing all dilapidated roads in the capital.

Acknowledging the poor conditions exacerbated by recent heavy rains, Asenso-Boakye emphasized the government’s proactive measures to address these issues.

During his tour of ongoing road and drainage projects in several municipalities across Greater Accra, he pledged to prioritize the repair of these roads, especially in densely populated areas like Accra.

Accompanied by key officials, including Greater Accra Regional Minister Titus Glover and Chief Director of the Ministry of Roads and Highways Abass Awolu, Asenso-Boakye inspected various sites, including Tuba Junction, Aplaku-Red Top, Pentecost University, and ongoing bridge construction at Densu River.

He highlighted the government’s significant investments in road infrastructure, urging patience from Ghanaians as they work towards improving road networks and storm drainage systems.

Addressing challenges such as obstructive structures near construction sites, he assured fair compensation to affected individuals to ensure uninterrupted project progress.

Madam Adwoa Duku, Regional Director of Urban Roads, provided updates on project statuses, indicating progress and expected completion timelines.

Mr. Glover emphasized the importance of timely completion, particularly regarding the Weija bridge, to alleviate traffic congestion on major routes.

Overall, the government’s commitment to enhancing infrastructure and addressing road-related issues in Greater Accra was reiterated during the visit.
