Social media is abuzz with chatter surrounding Apostle Dr. Opoku Onyinah, former Chairman of the Church of Pentecost, following a recent post that has fueled speculation about his potential political aspirations.
The man of God has found himself thrust into the spotlight amid rumors linking him to the running mate position for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the upcoming 2024 presidential election.
While Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, the NPP’s flagbearer, has yet to announce his running mate, Apostle Onyinah’s recent social media activity has added fuel to the speculation surrounding his potential entry into the political arena. In a post dated February 10, 2024, the apostle reflected on the importance of fulfilling one’s purpose in life, warning against the consequences of allowing talents to go to waste and the detrimental impact of remaining silent in the face of societal challenges.
“The Lord has a reason for creating me. Burying my talent and making it redundant is doing a disservice to my family, church, nation, and world,” wrote Apostle Onyinah on his Facebook page. “If I fail to speak, to work, to contribute, I allow the ‘bad’ minority to rule and dictate. Often, the silence of the majority or a good one helps the noisy minority destroy society or even rule. (From my script on Words of Wisdom).”
As speculation mounts over Dr. Bawumia’s choice for running mate, several names have been put forth, each accompanied by its own set of arguments and justifications. Among the frontrunners is Energy Minister Dr. Matthew Opoku Prempeh, whose candidacy is bolstered by arguments of regional balance and the need to secure stronghold votes.
However, supporters of Apostle Onyinah are rallying behind his candidacy, citing religion as an additional factor that could boost the NPP’s ticket. With his esteemed status and background in the Christian community, many believe that Apostle Onyinah would serve as the perfect complement to Dr. Bawumia, who is Muslim.
Notably, Apostle Opoku Onyinah currently holds the position of Chairman of the Board of Trustees for the Construction of Ghana’s controversial National Cathedral, adding another layer of intrigue to his potential political involvement.
As the nation eagerly awaits Dr. Bawumia’s announcement regarding his running mate, the spotlight remains firmly fixed on Apostle Onyinah, whose recent social media post has added a new dimension to the unfolding political narrative. With the 2024 presidential election drawing closer, all eyes are on the NPP’s flagbearer as he prepares to unveil his choice for the crucial role of running mate.
Appreciate the recommendation. Will try it out.
