Chief of Wamanafuo-Sabikrom in the Dormaa East District of the Bono Region, Nana Sabi Ababio, has called on former President John Mahama to prioritize youth employment if he is elected in the upcoming December 7 general elections.
Speaking at a mini durbar held at Wamanafuo Ahyiayem on Tuesday, September 10, Nana Sabi Ababio highlighted the urgent need for job opportunities for the youth in his community.
The Chief emphasized that the young people of Wamanafuo are eagerly supporting Mahama and expect that their support will be reciprocated with tangible employment opportunities.
Nana Sabi Ababio expressed concern that job opportunities should not be contingent upon possessing specific certificates, arguing that such conditions could unfairly burden the youth.
“Since he has visited this district and we see how things are progressing, if by God’s grace, he is elected into power, we, the people of Wamanafuo and the youth want jobs. As we support him to become president, when the time comes for the youth to be employed, that is when they will say go and bring your certificate,” Nana Sabi Ababio said.
He stressed that the same principle should apply to employment as it does to voting, where no certificate is required in exchange for support. The Chief urged the National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer to ensure that employment opportunities are accessible to all deserving youth, without unnecessary barriers.
Nana Sabi Ababio’s statement reflects a broader call for equitable job creation and highlights the importance of addressing employment concerns in political platforms.
