Ghanaian artist Mubarikatu Issaka, also known as ‘Artist Barry’, from Akwatia in the Eastern region, is currently challenging the longest individual painting marathon record at the Xtreme pub in Akwatia.
The 29-year-old artist aims to surpass the existing record of 100 hours set by Nigerian art student Chancellor Ahaghotu earlier this year, breaking a decade-old milestone.
As of May 4, Artist Barry has already completed more than 90 hours of her target 130-hour marathon, which she intends to achieve within six days.
According to her sister, Barisa Isaaka, who represents her, Mubarikatu received approval for this endeavour in December.
However, due to necessary preparations, the marathon was delayed until now.
The artist is currently sponsored by Mr. Twum Barima, a prominent miner in Akwatia, as well as other individuals and philanthropists supporting her record-breaking attempt.
