Chairperson of the Electoral Commission (EC), Jean Mensa, has detailed the extensive preparations underway for the upcoming December 7 elections.
Addressing key issues and procedural changes, the EC chair assured Parliament of the Commission’s readiness to conduct free and fair elections.
In a comprehensive briefing to Parliament on Friday, July 19, 2024, the EC chair announced that no new Constitutional Instrument (C.I.) will be presented to Parliament before the polls.
Additionally, the proposal to move the election date to November has been postponed to 2028, confirming that the Saturday, December 7, 2024, date remains unchanged.
To enhance the integrity of the voting process, the EC chair confirmed the use of indelible ink for the upcoming elections.
