President Akufo-Addo has articulated the government’s aspiration to establish Ghana as the primary hub for medical excellence within the West African sub-region by the year 2030.
President Akufo-Addo expressed confidence in achieving this vision, underlining Ghana’s abundant skilled workforce and ongoing investments in healthcare infrastructure nationwide, exemplified by Agenda 111.
These remarks were made during the inauguration of the St Michael’s Specialist Hospital (SMSH) in Lapaz, a suburb of Accra. President Akufo-Addo reaffirmed the government’s commitment to substantial investments in the healthcare sector and reiterated support for private sector initiatives.
Michael Banahene, Chairman of St Michael’s Specialist Hospital’s Board, lauded the Akufo-Addo administration for its contributions toward realizing the hospital’s vision.
He further highlighted that the St. Michael’s Specialist Hospital would eventually employ around 600 Ghanaian staff at full capacity.
Former President John Agyekum Kufour expressed immense pride in his grand nephew’s accomplishments, particularly considering the substantial time taken to complete the hospital project.
He also commended the hospital’s adoption of high international standards to deliver efficient healthcare services to the people of Ghana and beyond.
