The purpose of this bill is to establish comprehensive legislation governing broadcasting services, overseen by the National Media Commission (NMC) and the National Communications Authority (NCA), in compliance with the constitution.
Additionally, Abubakar highlighted the government’s commitment to enhancing the welfare and safety of journalists.
She mentioned ongoing discussions with the Judicial Service to ensure accountability and severe punishment for individuals who assault journalists and media outlets.
Furthermore, collaborative efforts have been made to provide training sessions for journalists across the country.
