Funeral of ex-Interior Minister Mark Woyongo scheduled to take place from April 11-14

The funeral and burial rites of the late Mark Owen Woyongo, former Interior Minister under the National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration, will be held from Thursday, April 11 to Sunday, April 14, 2024.

A pre-burial mass in his honor will take place on April 11, 2024, at the Christ the King Church in Accra at 9 am. This will be followed by a wake-keeping and vigil on Friday, April 12th, at the Woyongo Family House in Navrongo.

The funeral mass will be held on Saturday, April 13th, at Our Lady of Seven Sorrows Minor Basilica, Navrongo, with a Thanksgiving mass scheduled for Sunday, April 14th, at the Catholic Church in Navrongo.

The family announced these arrangements during a courtesy call on Interior Minister Henry Quartey to officially inform him of Mr. Woyongo’s passing on Monday.

Mr. Woyongo, who also served as a former Minister of Defence and Member of Parliament for the Navrongo Central Constituency, passed away on January 17, 2024, in Accra after a period of illness.

The leader of the delegation, George Anuseh, expressed gratitude to the Minister for the meeting and extended an invitation to the Ministry to attend the funeral.

In response, Mr. Quartey praised the late Woyongo as a politician who contributed vast knowledge to the security and intelligence of the country. He assured the family of the Ministry’s support in giving Mr. Woyongo a dignified farewell.
