Former president of Ghana, John Agyekum Kufuor, has committed to supporting Kenpong Football Academy.
The announcement comes in response to a letter sent by Mr. Kufuor, the former chairman of Asante Kotoko, requesting to take on the role of board chairman for the Academy.
Mr. Kufuor thanked Mr. Kennedy Agyepong (Kenpong), the founder of the Academy, for his visionary efforts in founding the Academy to improve football development in Ghana, in a letter dated June 3, 2024.
“Firstly, I wish to congratulate you on your vision in setting up this football academy to enhance the development of football in the country,” Kufuor stated.

While expressing his gratitude for the invitation to serve as the Board Chairman, Mr Kufuor requested to serve as a patron of the Academy.
“It will be a privilege to be associated with the Kenpong Football Academy; however, I wish, rather, to serve as a PATRON of the organisation,” he wrote.
Mr. Kufuor assured Mr. Agyepong and the Academy’s players of his continued support and accessibility. “My doors are always open to you and your boys,” he affirmed.
Kenpong Football Academy, located in Winneba, has recently been in the spotlight for forging partnerships with top European football clubs.
It is anticipated that Mr. Kufuor’s involvement will further enhance the Academy’s reputation and its goal of developing young football talent in Ghana.
Mr. Kufuor is a well-known figure in both football and politics in the country.
Mr. Agyepong conveyed his happiness that Mr. Kufuor had agreed to become a patron, stressing the importance of the former President’s extensive background and clout to the development and prosperity of the Academy.
