Chelsea’s defender, Thiago Silva, continues to be a transfer target for Fluminense.

Despite his veteran status, Silva has been a revelation during his tenure at Stamford Bridge, maintaining a crucial role in the heart of Chelsea’s defense.

With a total of 126 appearances in all competitions, the 39-year-old has significantly contributed to Chelsea’s success, including triumphs in the Champions League and Club World Cup.

Notably, he has retained his place in the current starting lineup.

As an ever-present figure in the Premier League under the management of Mauricio Pochettino, Silva is regarded as the preferred choice in his position.

However, his contract has less than a year left, leaving his future with Chelsea uncertain.

Speculation about a return to Fluminense has circulated for some time, as Silva has shown an openness to the idea of a third stint at the Maracanã before retiring.

The report suggests that Fluminense may attempt to negotiate a deal with Chelsea midway through the season, though it appears somewhat unrealistic if Silva maintains his place in the starting lineup.

Chelsea is already dealing with the absence of Wesley Fofana for a significant portion of the season, making further limitations in this key area less desirable for Pochettino.

Fluminense currently holds the ninth position in the Brasileiro standings, just two points away from the sixth spot, which would grant them entry into the Copa Libertadores qualifiers.
