Eight years ago, it was reported that Accra-based Joy FM operators of the multimedia group of companies suspended its morning show host Kojo Yankson for two weeks following his comments against then-President John Dramani Mahama.
A group calling itself the ‘Women for Mahama’ called for his sack indicating that his comments were in bad taste and inimical to the fairness of the multimedia group.
Per reports, he called the former President an armed robber.
In a release signed by Theresa Awuni its National Coordinator, it accused the multimedia journalist of deliberately setting out to falsely accuse and assassinate the image of the President.
Consequently, managers of the company were said to have yielded to pressures and handed the host a two-week suspension over the comments.
The news that happened in 2016 resurfaced after Kojo Yankson shared a flier of JoyFM’s State of Play to discuss “The Bawumia Napo love affair” after the NPP confirmed that Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh is the running mate of Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.
Reacting to the post, a netizen accused Kojo Yankson of describing Dr Opoku Prempeh, also known as Napo, as arrogant.
According to the netizen, the journalist will not be suspended despite making such a remark.
